Hi, I'm Kathy, a certified speech language pathologist with 30 years of experience motivating my students to express themselves with skill and confidence! I love to connect with my students and use what interests them to develop activities that make the learning process more meaningful and more fun! I have extensive experience in language development and literacy and have helped students of all ages to improve their reading, spelling, and writing. Challenges with literacy often include underlying weaknesses with specific speech and language skills and the in-depth knowledge I bring as a speech therapist is invaluable toward developing a comprehensive and evidence-based approach. I have been trained in using multisensory strategies through both the Orton-Gillingham and Lively Letters programs and I use these techniques to create lessons that are personalized to the individual student's needs in order to help each student thrive and succeed. I have experience helping high school students improve their writing skills for essays and research papers and have worked with many students to improve the thought processes related to their organization, time management, and memory.
I believe that everybody has something to say and deserves to be heard! I have the expertise and experience to help my students develop their speaking skills to include improved enunciation and clarity, grammar, voice and rate. Whether the goal is to find the words to express yourself, improve your presentation skills, prepare for an interview, become more social, or simply to feel more confident as you speak, I will go the extra mile to help you! I have worked in the schools, in home health, and have run my own private practice for many years. My experience includes working with students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and learning disabilities, as well as students in ESL programs.
