I have been a social studies teacher in New Jersey for the past ten years. In this time, I have taught all over the middle and high school levels, primarily seventh and eighth grades, but also high school (Honors, CP, AP) and even fifth grade. I graduated from Rider University in 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in History and Secondary Education. I later completed Special Education certification at Georgian Court University. I have been teaching in my current school district for five years, mainly teaching seventh and eighth grade social studies in both general education and inclusion settings.
While tutoring has been hard to come by, I believe that my experience in the classroom translates just as well to tutoring and one-to-one settings. I aim to create individualized lessons that cater to student strengths while developing strategies to better understand material, primarily through interactive means. It is my goal to help students reach their full potential by getting the extra help they need to succeed in the classroom. Gaining an appreciation for history is also a bonus!
