I am currently tutoring students in philosophy, AP U.S. Government and Politics, AP European History, and Middle School Social Studies. A picture tells a thousand words; and maps are shortcuts to understanding.
Students preparing for an AP exam are encouraged to let me know what they need to hit, as soon as possible, prior to our meeting.
My general philosophy of teaching builds from the base of a pyramid up. Once a topic has been situated in time (timelines), and space (maps), thematic concepts and technical terms are introduced. Where we go from there is generally dependent upon the student's needs, balanced by the requirements of an exam or assignment.
I have lectured on the Qabalah for over 30 years, given PowerPoint presentations to diplomats, and read storybooks to grade schoolers. I seek to make learning fun, while helping students to develop and apply conceptual tools that they will use for the rest of their lives.
