I was nominated for NJ-ASPA Student of the Year (2023), while attending the School of Public Administration and Global Affairs, at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU). I hold an MPA in Global Affairs (FDU, 2023), and a BA in Philosophy (Richard Stockon College, 2005.) I have been consulted by the Epoch Times, written for geopolitical publications, and held a book signing for a historical fiction novel (2016).
I have tutored two teenage males in English, writing, history, and basic math. One student (17) required assistance understanding basic abstractions. Upon encountering word problems during a math assignment, the student told me that he could not understand the "why?", only the "what?" of a question. By using analogies with things he valued (mainly sports), I was able to get him to understand the "why," via building on analogy with metaphor. He "got it".
The other student (16) was a very bright child, lacking in organization and motivation. The biggest hurdle here was eliciting proper reporting from the student concerning pending assignments. After having taught him certain tactics for organization and study (e.g., whiteboarding, journaling), the student made rapid progress. Each student was taught in a private setting.
I have lectured on the Qabalah for over 30 years, including twice at a Barnes & Noble in Paterson, NJ (1997). I have given PowerPoint presentations to diplomats, and read storybook time to grade schoolers. At the end of the day, I hope to make learning interesting, and to provide students with conceptual tools fit for life.
