Hi, I'm Virgil, and I've spent the last decade helping students like you navigate their academic journeys. I recently completed my Medical Doctorate and my Master of Public Health degrees, graduating at the top of my MPH class with distinction for my thesis and a perfect 4.0 GPA. My strong academic roots come from Johns Hopkins University, where I finished my undergraduate studies in just two years before earning my master's, achieving departmental honors in all my majors. I also received honors in more than half of my clinical clerkships during medical school, including in surgery. This rigorous education has given me a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in academic environments. Having also successfully navigated the demanding medical school path, including matching into my top-choice surgical residency after 25 interviews, I understand the pressures you are facing. That's why I'm dedicated to tutoring, to offer the consistent support and belief in your potential that will make all the difference.

My approach to tutoring is built on the idea that too many bright students give up too soon. Burnout, silent struggles, and imposter syndrome can be incredibly tough. My goal is to empower you not only to master the complex material you're tackling, whether it's for crucial pre-clinical exams, the high-stakes USMLE & COMLEX, important shelf exams, or developing strong clinical reasoning, but also to strengthen your self-belief. I draw on my ten years of tutoring experience, my own successful learning strategies from demanding programs, and tailor each session to how you learn best. We'll focus on improving your test scores, developing research skills, and building confidence. Importantly, I'm committed to helping you find the most effective ways to study, using the latest tools and resources. I'm here to help you not just understand the content, but to see the amazing things you can achieve when you persevere and believe in yourself.

Approved Subjects

Biostatistics

Biostatistics

I have worked as a Research Coordinator and Biostatistician with nearly 10 years of experience in study design, data analysis, and database management for grant-funded research. I have worked on over 50 academic studies, including 21 publications and 50+ poster presentations. My expertise spans multivariate regression, study design, and statistical modeling, contributing to both clinical and academic research. I hold a DO and an MPH, which complement my background in biostatistics and my ability to communicate complex statistical concepts to anyone.
USMLE

USMLE

I have successfully passed both USMLE Step 1 and Step 2, as well as COMLEX Level 1 and Level 2, with competitive scores that position me well for a surgical residency. I received honors in my surgical clerkships and performed well on shelf examinations. With a strong foundation in both clinical knowledge and practical skills, I am equipped to guide students through the preparation process for these challenging exams.
