About John

Bio

I have been playing the french horn 7 years, 3 of which have been spent in the Rutgers Symphony Band as well as the 5 Loaves 2 Fish Charity Orchestra. Before college, I played in every music ensemble that high school would allow including choir, wind ensemble, marching band, and both the school and school district orchestras. During my time at college I began to learn about other instruments than the french horn.

As of right now I play 18 instruments including but not limited to the modern valved french horn, the modern trumpet, both slide and valved trombone, the piston french horn, the natural horn, the trompe de chasse, peruvian quena and panpipes, irish pennywhistle, recorders, native american flute, and the japanese shakuhachi. Also, I am a trained singer, adding my own voice to the list of instruments.

Music is my greatest passion and there is, in my experience, no greater way to share music than by teaching others about music it's history. Playing historical horns as well as world instruments has given me a greater understanding of music from the past and from other cultures. If you want to learn music, I am always happy to share everything I have learned about playing instruments, singing, or theory.
