Learn Screenwriting from a Produced Professional

Hi Everyone, I'm Paul! I graduated from Ithaca College more than a few years back (1988) with a BS in Cinema & Photography. As a student, the one class I postponed taking for as long as I could was...Screenwriting! I just had so much fear of putting thoughts on paper, let alone a full blown story! Once in that class, however, I immediately found my calling. Post graduation, I worked as a Creative Executive in Hollywood on the script development side of things. I learned so much from my colleagues that I decided to start my own writing career. 30 years, 28 screenplays, 5 sales and 2 productions later...I'm now all about helping others in their creative writing endeavors.

A few years ago, I opened a brick and mortar tutoring business, designed to help high school students become better creative writers. I'm proud of the fact that I aided dozens of students in their college application process, simply because they were able to attach pages from a completed screenplay to their submission packages. Today, I am so very excited at the prospect of bringing my skills and methods as a produced screenwriter and teacher to a much larger population via Wyzant. As a tutor, my goal is to help you reach the goals of my coursework. I do everything I can in my lesson planning to ensure that those goals are both within reach and challenging without being intimidating. I find that creative writing can be both to some students. I think it's important to mitigate that by making the learned material fun and engaging. I also use many outside sources from movies, tv shows, and available screenplays as aides in paving the way to an overall understanding of the craft.

You are the architect of your own story. It's my goal as a tutor to imbue my students with a sense of joy, wonder, and encouragement in an engaging and inclusive enviornment wherever the art of creating story is involved.
