About Konstantinos

I have several years of experience teaching and tutoring math and physics, mostly to high school and college students. I have taught and tutored students in courses including in Calculus I, II, and III, Differential Equations, Probability & Statistics, Linear Algebra, Physics, and Advanced Calculus.

I know the SAT and ACT math tests inside and out. I know the structure and style of questions and can definitely help you improve your score. I have a BA from Rutgers University and an MSc from the London School of Economics, both degrees in mathematics. I also tutor students in physics and regularly use examples from physics to teach Calculus.

I think I'm pretty friendly and outgoing. You should find my rate fair, my approach to learning effective, and my knowledge of the material to be exceptional.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Actuarial Science

I was an actuary for about 7 years. I have passed the first 4 exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society. I also have a Master's degree in mathematics. I can tutor in any one of the preliminary actuarial exams of the SOA or the CAS.

Algebra 1

I've taught ANY kind of algebra you can think of at a community college many times. I've tutored it extensively as well.

Algebra 2

I've taught Algebra 2 in a community college many times. I've tutored it extensively and can provide references. I understand where students have difficulty and my knowledge of the subject is exceptional.

Calculus

Calculus is one of my favorite subjects to teach. It's the gateway to more advanced mathematics and the foundation for many other courses in mathematics and science. I have taught Calculus I, II, and III many times in a community college setting. I am very familiar with the AP exams as well! I have tutored many students privately, as well, and can provide references.

Differential Equations

Differential Equations is one of my favorite subjects to teach. It's the gateway to more advanced mathematics and the foundation for many other courses in mathematics and science. I have taught it many times in a community college setting.

GRE

I've tutored, SAT's, GRE's, ACT's, etc MANY times and know them inside and out!! My scores on both the SAT and GRE were in the top 1st percentile.

Physics

Physics is one of my favorite subjects to teach. It's the gateway and the foundation for many other courses in science. I have tutored many students privately, as well, and can provide references. I have taught Calculus I, II, and III in a community college and use physics often to provide concrete examples.

Precalculus

Precalculus is one of my favorite subjects to teach. It's the gateway to more advanced mathematics and the foundation for many other courses. I have taught Precalculus many times in a community college setting. I have tutored many students privately, as well, and can provide references.

Probability

I was an actuary for 10 years and have passed the exams in probability, statistics, and stochastic models. I have an MSc in mathematics and a decent part of my coursework was in probability and statistics.

Statistics

I worked as an actuary for seven years. Actuaries use probability and statistics to help keep insurance companies in business by charging the correct rates for insurance. I have passed four of the Casualty Actuarial Society exams which rely heavily on probability and statistics and are extremely difficult. I have tutored in both probability and statistics before and have also taught these topics at a community college many times.
