I am an experienced tutor having tutored people ranging in age from 13 through 19 and in subjects ranging from Pre-Algebra to college level calculus. I graduated Cum Laude from Syracuse University with a bachelor's degree in Applied Math with a 3.6 GPA as a Leadership Scholar and am now pursuing a master's degree from Columbia University.

I began specializing in tutoring high school students in AP AB and BC calculus classes and preparing them for the AP test. I have carried a fondness towards calculus beginning when I myself took the AP BC calculus test and scored a 5 this has continued as I have since taken 4 levels of college level calculus in addition to differential equations, real analysis, and many other calculus adjacent classes.

I believe calculus provides a unique challenge to students as it is typically the first interaction with mathematically abstract concepts. These tend to juxtapose the more perceptible concepts seen in geometry and algebra classes. I find this sudden shift is at the root of why calculus has a tendency to trip students up, especially those in high school. To counter this, I like to consider concrete examples and analogies to the more abstract problem. I find being able to visualize the problem and put it in more familiar terms is very helpful.

As a tutor, I will tailor my sessions to meet the needs of every student. In my past experience, there are typically a handful of snags that trip students up. By identifying and clarifying those problem areas, we don't waste time repeating things that the student is comfortable with. Additionally, prior to studying I will write up a few of my own practice problems for us to touch on if the student doesn't have specific questions. Ultimately, I find this tailored approach yields the most effective sessions.

I am willing to meet students in person at any convenient public place throughout NYC. I am flexible and can try to accommodate any student's schedule. I can begin working right away, I look forward to hearing from you.
