I strive to help students of all ages achieve their academic goals, improve their skills, and become lifelong readers and learners while breaking down complex topics into easy-to-understand concepts.
I have worked in both general education and special education settings at a variety of grade levels. My experiences with students of all ages and ability levels have exposed me to a wide range of curriculum, state standards, and a complex understanding of what is expected academically from grade to grade. I tailor every lesson to fit my student's learning style, whether they are looking to boost their grades, prepare for a test, increase their skills, or gain confidence in a specific area.
My approach is patient, engaging, and designed to make learning enjoyable in order for students to feel comfortable, engaged, and productive every time we meet and work together. I adapt my teaching methods from lesson to lesson in order to meet a student's individual needs. I strive to communicate regularly with parents, because I truly believe that parent communication and involvement is crucial for any student's success.
Some of the areas I specialize in for English/Language Arts are: reading comprehension, textual analysis, analyzing both fiction and nonfiction texts, critical thinking, writing skills, sentence structure, grammar, essay writing, paragraph development and organization, research skills, MLA formatting, editing and proofreading, vocabulary, test preparation for the NJSLA and the SAT, college entrance essays, and more.
