***Lesson Structure***

Private instruction is a great opportunity for a student to learn the details to playing trumpet and making music. Playing trumpet can be fun and enjoyable. It can also be one of the most physically demanding instruments to play.

The physical aspect of playing can be the most crucial. Learning to play with proper air support, embouchure set, correct finger technique, and posture will not only make playing easier, but will also progress your abilities faster and more efficiently.

My lessons are structured around the proper physical approach to the horn while applying fundamental techniques such as: Lip Flexibility, Technical Fingering, Range, Proper Equipment, a

Great first lesson!

Gave me great tips on the fundamentals. Seems willing to work with me at my (SLOW) pace, as I still work full time at 100hr/wk "day job". I look forward to taking some more lessons with him. Can't wait to try a mouthpiece he recommended.

Sounds crazy, but he literally changed my life!

John gave me a completely different perspective on brass playing in my very first lesson, some thing that no YouTube video has ever done. It was an amazing experience and I feel lucky to know John, if only online. Also he is just a personable guy and a good teacher to boot.

Attention to detail

We have had two lessons with John and I’ve been very impressed. His attention to detail is refreshing. It’s so important to get the correct positioning of the mouth and lips early on. He works well over Zoom and is a fantastic teacher!

Understanding and patient instructor

I'm still in the early stages of playing and John doesn't get frustrated or demanding when I still haven't figured it out. He is very patient and tries multiple ways of teaching so I understand what I'm supposed to do. Thanks John Sheila

Another wonderful session

John really excels at explaining the technique adjustments required to improve your sound. He’s patient and clear and uses the camera and microphone very well so you can visualize what the music should sound like and how your lips tongue and fingers should be working. He's also fun and encouraging. I'd recommend him to anyone wanting to improve.
