I have worked as a tutor since I was 14, starting in Kumon, then tutoring for programs in my high school and college. I have tutored young kids (3+) up to college students throughout my life. I have spent the most time tutoring Chemistry and Precalculus to college freshman and sophomores. I have also tutored physics, calculus, biology, and circuits.
After tutoring at several programs throughout my life, I have developed the philosophy of prioritizing the fundamentals over simply drilling problem sets. It's more important to know how mathematical functions work and why, or why molecules act the way they do. By understanding the basics, students are better equipped to tackle problems that they've never seen before and are able to extrapolate ideas from their base knowledge. Most importantly, this will develop the student's confidence in their academic capabilities.
