Hello my name is Ryan and I am currently a graduate student in Computer and Information Technology. I graduated with honors, with a BS in Chemistry with minors in Physics and Biology. Afterwards, I attended graduate school for Physics and obtained an MA. While I do love the sciences, the most important thing is that I love to learn. With the help of great teachers and professors through the years, I found that many of these tough subjects can be interesting and comprehensible, and through tutoring, I hope to help you on your own learning journey.

I have around 4+ years of overall teaching and learning experience. I started tutoring during undergrad, working at our school's Learning Commons, tutoring various Chemistry courses, and University Physics. Most of these sessions were done one on one, with students bringing their own materials that they wished to discuss. Occasionally I helped run group sessions, where multiple students would come in with different problems. Afterwards, in my physics graduate program, I worked as a Introductory Chemistry Lab TA and recitation instructor. These classes were around 15-20 students, were in a classroom setting and were much more general with lesson plans to follow.

Now, I seek new opportunities to keep giving back what I have learned. I am currently in the early stages of my new graduate program in Computer Science, so my current experiences in that are in Java and Python. I am most comfortable tutoring General Chemistry as well as Java or Python-based Computer Science, but I also am able to tutor Introductory Physics. In order to best aid the students, I welcome any external resources that they provide so as to make sure that I understand what exactly they are needing to do.

Chemistry

Chemistry

I am confident that I can tutor General Chemistry well. I studied Chemistry as my undergraduate major, and also helped at our University's Learning Commons, tutoring General Chemistry. After undergrad, I served as a Instructor Chemistry Lab and Recitation Instructor, during my Physics graduate program.
Computer Science

Computer Science

I am a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, studying in the Master of Computer and Information Technology program. As a result, I am definitely equipped to tutor Computer Science, as I have studied formally Software Development (particularly in Java/Python) Computer Systems, Data Structures and Algorithms, just to name a few. I tutor in particular Java, and have had good success doing so.
Java

Java

I have had a decent amount of experience with Java. In high school I took AP Computer Science and our principal language there was Java. However, in university I did not use Java. It was only when I made a career shift to CS that I started using Java again. I started relearning Java in January of 2022, and formally took a Java class in my graduate program last Fall 2022. I then studied Data Structures and Software Design in the of Spring 2023, using Java as the main programming language.
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

I am currently a chemistry major at St. John's University. Currently, I am taking the Honors Advanced Organic Chemistry II class and will be finishing this class. The past semester I have passed the course with an A grade and currently and exceeding in my class. Finally, I tutor throughout the semester General Chemistry and Introductory Organic Chemistry.
Physics

Physics

I believe I am qualified for this position because of my background. I have taken AP Physics in high school, minored in Physics in my undergraduate degree, and pursued graduate school in Physics, graduating with an MA degree. Aside from that, I have tutored physics in university, for about 2 years, teaching University Physics (Calculus Based Physics).
Python

Python

I have worked relatively frequently with Python the past few years. In my physics degree program, I utilized Python to write and run my experimental simulations. I worked frequently with NumPy, SciPy, Pandas and Matplotlib then. Additionally, in my current graduate program in Computer and Information Technology, I have used python in my Introductory Software Development and in my Artificial Intelligence courses.

Well worth the money!

Ryan helped me with a comp sci project and knew exactly what I wanted and had so much patience. He explained what we were doing, going to do, and what it does for the entire project starting with nothing.
