For the past thirteen years, I've had the pleasure to teach students, young and old, in English and Spanish many different academic and life skills. I began my work in education coaching softball in private instruction. My love for outdoor education and place-based science studies grew while instructing and program directing with Outward Bound. Finally, I began teaching upper elementary in bilingual classrooms in 2013. I taught all upper elementary subject areas in both English and Spanish for the first four years of my career, learning to quickly assess a student's needs and differentiate lesson planning accordingly. I then taught Spanish for two years, until I returned to homeroom teaching for a vertically grouped class of 4th and 5th grade students. I currently teach at The Philadelphia School. I have a lot of fun working with my students and pride myself in creating engaging ways to learn challenging content!
I am not only a progressive educator, but am also an improvisational artist, a skilled facilitator, a community advocate, a beekeeper and gardener! I teach tricky Spanish conjugations while we improvise stories about goofy characters; I collaborate on dance choreographies that make multiplication tables stick; ultimately I want to know what will make your student excited about learning! I am a lifelong learner myself and love to share that curiosity with all I meet.
I hold New Jersey K-6 and Bilingual/Bicultural certifications.
