I am a certified educator with a Master of Arts in Teaching and over fourteen years of experience teaching English and ESL in diverse educational settings. I hold a K-12 TESOL certification as well as K-6 certifications in Math, Science, History, and English in Elementary Education. Throughout my career, I have worked with students in grades 4 through 8, as well as high school students in a juvenile detention center, supporting learners from a wide range of academic and linguistic backgrounds.
My experience includes classroom teaching, small group instruction, and individualized academic support. I have taught multilingual learners at varying proficiency levels, from students building foundational English skills to those developing advanced reading comprehension and academic writing abilities. In both traditional school environments and alternative educational settings, I have helped students strengthen grammar, expand vocabulary, improve writing structure, and build confidence in verbal communication. Working in a juvenile detention center strengthened my ability to differentiate instruction, build rapport quickly, and support students who may have experienced academic gaps or challenges.
My teaching approach combines clear, explicit instruction with practical application. I believe in identifying each student’s strengths, learning style, and goals, then creating structured, achievable steps that lead to measurable progress. My goal as a tutor is not only to improve academic performance, but to empower students to communicate effectively and approach learning with confidence.
