Hi, I'm Paige! I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, as well as a Master's in Teaching with a Special Education certification. I am currently in my fourth year of teaching high school chemistry, and I have resource, average level, and honors classes. In the few years that I have worked as a teacher, given my certifications, it has not been uncommon for me to teach this broad range of class levels. Working with such a wide range of learners has strengthened my ability to break down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps, while also challenging advanced students to think more deeply.
As a teacher, I have found that it is beneficial to students of all levels to streamline a lesson, work through example problems with them, and then provide them ample time to work on problems independently. Rather than lecturing students through the duration of a class period, I actually spend less time talking, and more time doing. Students benefit from repetition and practice, and I have also applied this method when it comes to tutoring-- although I have not had many tutoring students, I am looking to broaden my reach and help more students in need of aid in chemistry.
I understand that chemistry can feel overwhelming, especially since topics tend to build on one another. My goal as a tutor is to meet students where they are, identify gaps in understanding, and build both confidence and problem-solving skills. Whether a student needs help mastering foundational concepts, preparing for an exam, or pushing toward higher-level thinking, I tailor each session to their individual needs in order to teach students how to approach chemistry problems strategically so they can become more independent and successful in class.
