Hello! I am a certified NJ public school teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience. I am certified in elementary and special education, and highly qualified to teach English and Science. I currently teach small sized middle school Language Arts classes, but taught at the elementary level for 9 years. I have 55 hours of Orton Gillingham training (Orton Gillingham is an excellent program for students struggling with learning to read and write). I am familiar with many programs including Go Math, Reading Street and Reading and Writing Workshops. I have experience with kids of all ability levels. I have worked with kids that have behavior plans, learning disabilities and students with Autism.

In addition to my experience as a teacher, I am a mother of 3 and have a very warm, patient personality. I would love to help your child reach his or her potential, gain confidence as a learner and begin to love learning once again. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

I am certified as a NJ special education teacher and also as a NJ elementary teacher. I have been working in Parsippany public schools for 14 years, the last 5 having been with elementary students in kindergarten through second grades. I have taught all subjects at the elementary level including Reading/Writing for K-2 grades and the Go Math program for grades K-2.
Handwriting

Handwriting

I am certified as a NJ special education and elementary teacher. I have been working in Parsippany public schools for 14 years with students who have learning disabilities. I work daily on handwriting and use the model of a house to help students see where letters should fall on a writing line. I show them some letters stay in the house ( a, c, e, etc.), while others go into the attic (for example t or l) and others go down into the basement (p, q, etc.). I also have students practice handwriting using sand in a tray, shaving cream or even iPad applications.

Study Skills

Part of my job as a certified special education and elementary education teacher is to equip my students with good study skills that will help them to be as successful as possible when preparing for assessments. During my 6 years at the middle school, I taught study skills courses. This includes teaching things such as good habits to have when doing class work or homework, how to eliminate wrong choices with multiple choice questions, etc.
