I have dedicated my entire professional life to educating students. It is my philosophy that all students have an intelligence that must be uncovered and nurtured. The teacher must understand the way the student perceives his world before that instructor can design lessons that will work for that individual. My approach is to examine and analyze the way your child learns and responds in learning situations. Then, I can design tasks that will connect to your child's style of learning and increase that student's confidence in an academic setting. Confidence and comfort are major issues for teenagers, especially those that struggle in the classroom.

I am a public school educator with experience in teaching all levels of high school English, as well as Speech and Drama courses. I tutor for the English portions of the SAT and ACT. I have a Masters Degree from Columbia University and can provide references upon request.

My strength is my ability to connect with students and mitigate the anxiety teens feel when they are experiencing failure in the English classroom. I approach each student as an individual, without comparison to others in the class or even family members. I encourage the student to increase his self-awareness in order to recognize his own strengths and identify his own weaknesses. I have a humorous personality that I believe students find disarming. I have been working with this grade level for twenty years, and am familiar with all types of learners.
