I am a fully licensed K-12 English teacher and a NJ attorney (retired status). I taught HS English for 26 years, with a short interval working as a corporate attorney. I retired from Livingston HS (a very prestigious district) where I taught
a range of HS English courses, from remedial to AP, and began teaching at various colleges, including Montclair U, Ramapo College, and FDU where I am currently employed. I have extensive experience teaching the writing process, the college essay, reading comprehension, analysis and interpretation, research skills, citation, etc. At the college level, my courses include: Freshman Composition, Research and Writing, Readings in Humanities (sophomore level course), Freshman Experience, Law & Literature. I also taught Legal Research & Writing while in law school. Since 2015 to the present, I tutor in FDU's Metro Writing Studio, a tutoring center staffed by professors who help our undergraduate as well as graduate students with writing, research, citation, reading comprehension, and thesis/dissertation preparation. I also have extensive experience in student teaching supervision. I worked in Montclair's, FDU's and Ramapo College's Education departments as a student teacher supervisor, observing and evaluating our student teachers during their field experience. My law degree not only qualifies me to assist students with the LSAT and general law school preparation, but supports and informs my approach to teaching critical thinking skills. I have experience preparing students for the SAT and ACT, and extensive expertise in helping students prepare the college essay for college applications. I am also a registered substitute with the district of Ridgewood and Glen Rock, NJ, and an ESS employee, and occasionally substitute teach to keep abreast of the trends and curricula in current application. My skills easily translate to teaching younger students, and I am proud to have made an impact on my younger students when I choose to substitute.
