Hi! I’m Sydney! I am about to graduate with Honors Psychology student at Howard University! I will be receiving my Masters in Social Work at UPenn this upcoming fall. My passion lies in making psychology as fun and understandable as possible!

Over the past year, I've tutored many students in psychology, specializing in AP Psychology, Intro to Psychology, and Social Psychology. I also assist with English paper revisions, focusing on a student-centered approach tailored to individual learning styles. Recognizing each student's uniqueness, I adjust my teaching style accordingly. In psychology, I ensure understanding by relating concepts to real-life examples, aiding memory retention and application.

A session with me is focused on your needs. We'll start by briefly clarifying everything you're struggling with or need for the session. Then, if no material is provided, I’ll present the information explicitly, ensuring every question is answered and leaving room for review. Having been a student and received tutoring, I aim to make sessions comfortable and productive! If you struggle with large student-to-teacher ratios or have trouble focusing, my style is aimed to ensure you thoroughly understand each concept. I can do a full lesson review or focus on a particular assignment. As a student researcher at Howard University, I've contributed to studies and presentations. I’m proud to say I’ve received 5-star reviews from clients, many of whom continue to work with me regularly. Additionally, I'm known for my availability and reliability, often assisting students with last-minute exam preparation. I specialize in one-on-one tutoring, working with all ages, and executive functioning. Recognized on the Dean's List, I'm dedicated to supporting students on their academic journey.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation and appreciate a 24-hour cancellation notice for scheduling. If you're interested in learning more or scheduling a session, please don't hesitate to reach out!

ADHD

ADHD

Supporting students with ADHD is a natural extension of my academic training in psychology and my hands-on tutoring experience. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA from Howard University, where my coursework included cognitive neuroscience, behavioral psychology, and abnormal psychology — providing a strong clinical and theoretical foundation in ADHD, attention regulation, and executive dysfunction. Through Wyzant, I have tutored students across grade levels with a specific focus on executive functioning skills such as organization, task initiation, time management, and emotional regulation — the core areas most impacted by ADHD. My volunteer work at Crisis Textline has further developed my ability to remain calm, adaptive, and solutions-focused when working with individuals experiencing emotional dysregulation, a skill that translates directly to supporting students with ADHD in high-frustration academic moments. Through the HBCU First Mentorship Program, I adapted a structured curriculum to the individual pace and needs of my mentee, reflecting the kind of personalized, flexible instruction that students with ADHD need most. I am currently enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania's Master of Social Work program, where I continue to build clinical knowledge around neurodevelopmental conditions including ADHD.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

My academic background in psychology and my commitment to serving neurodiverse students have prepared me to work thoughtfully and effectively with students on the Autism Spectrum. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA from Howard University, where I completed coursework in developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, and cognitive neuroscience, including study of Autism Spectrum Disorder across the lifespan. Through Wyzant, I have tutored students with diverse learning profiles, adapting my communication style, pacing, and instructional methods to meet each student's unique needs — an essential practice when working with students on the spectrum. Through the HBCU First Mentorship Program, I delivered a structured, individualized 10-week curriculum that required me to consistently assess my mentee's needs and adjust my approach accordingly, reflecting the kind of predictable, student-centered structure that supports learners with ASD. My research background, including co-authored work on identity development and anxiety, deepens my understanding of the social and emotional experiences that many students with ASD navigate. I am currently enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania's Master of Social Work program, where clinical training in neurodevelopmental conditions and inclusive support practices continues to strengthen my ability to serve students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Essay Writing

Essay Writing

Essay writing is one of my strongest academic and professional competencies, developed through years of rigorous academic training and direct tutoring experience. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA in Psychology from Howard University, where I produced extensive research writing, literature reviews, and academic papers at the highest level. I co-authored two peer-reviewed poster presentations — one on a new theory of racial identity development and one on anxiety in Black adult communities — requiring me to synthesize complex research into clear, structured, and persuasive academic writing. Through Wyzant, I have tutored high school, college, and graduate students specifically in writing, helping them develop thesis statements, organize arguments, strengthen evidence use, and refine their voice across multiple essay formats including argumentative, analytical, and personal essays. My experience as founder and CEO of Tech Neutrality required me to write grant proposals, partnership communications, and public-facing content, broadening my essay writing expertise beyond the academic setting. I am currently enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania's Master of Social Work program, where graduate-level writing remains a continued and active area of practice.
