Hi, I'm Dean! I'm a rising senior at the University of Southern California studying International Relations & Global Business. My background is in economics, reading & writing, and project management. Over the years, I’ve expanded my expertise in mathematics, computer science, and SAT/ACT, subjects that I’ve personally tutored while attending this institution. Going to an academically challenging college allowed me to break the boundaries of my major and diversify my skillset. While doing so, I was able to attain a 3.9 GPA while taking courses such as Calculus 2, algorithms + data structures, and level 4 economics.
To date, I have tutored for nearly 6 years across a diverse range of subject matters in both one-on-one and group settings. This includes K-12 math + reading, computer science, economics, SAT, and calculus. When I teach, I prioritize practicing empathy and patience; qualities I believe to be the most important when working with students who more often than not, don’t have the clearest idea or direction of what they learn. I make sure that I tailor lessons to the student and their endeavors, so they seek me as a mentor and are excited to learn. I apply this practice every session, regardless of whether I’m working with a middle school, high school, or college-level student.
Over the years, I learned to appreciate the value of helping students reach their goals and being present when they make it happen. In a way, it makes me feel like a project manager because it puts me in charge of bringing achievement to light through structured lessons and mentorship. I hope to extend that feeling to work with like-minded students and eager parents to get their feet
