Hello! My name is Yusuf, and I am an incoming Mechanical Engineering student at University of Michigan with a passion for math, science, and helping others learn. In high school, I maintained a 4.0 GPA while taking rigorous coursework and earned a 1550 SAT score (790 Math, 760 Reading and Writing). My academic success comes from developing a deep understanding of concepts rather than relying on memorization, and that is the same approach I bring to tutoring.
Beyond academics, I founded Project Shifa, a community initiative focused on helping participants reduce risk factors associated with metabolic syndrome through education, goal setting, and healthy lifestyle habits. Through this experience, I worked directly with individuals to explain complex topics in an understandable way and provide ongoing guidance and support. It taught me the importance of patience, communication, and adapting my teaching style to each person’s needs.
My goal as a tutor is to help students build confidence while strengthening their understanding of the material. Whether we are working on algebra, geometry, calculus, physics, SAT preparation, or other STEM subjects, I focus on breaking challenging concepts into manageable steps and helping students understand the reasoning behind each solution. I believe that when students truly understand a topic, they become better problem-solvers and more independent learners.
I strive to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I look forward to helping students achieve their academic goals and gain confidence in their abilities.
