I did my undergraduate at Washington University in St. Louis, double majoring in Biochemistry and Economics. I have over 6 years of tutoring experience, mostly working with middle and high school students in STEM courses and Test Prep. In high school, I took 13 AP courses earning 5's on all but one, and received AP Scholar with Distinction. I was received National Merit Commended Scholar for my performance on standardized tests, and scored within the 99% percentile on both the SAT and ACT.

I took these experiences throughout high school and began to apply it in my own work as a tutor, first working at a local teaching center for underprivileged students. During my undergraduate years, I began to work more heavily with middle and high school students in their STEM, English, and History courses of all levels as well as college test prep and essays. In the last two years of university, I tutored solely on an established online tutoring platform for over 320 hours, receiving an average 4.9 star review and a list of positive written reviews on my profile. My approach when working with students is very simple: first comprehension, then retention, and finally extension. I begin every session with trying to answer any questions the student fundamentally has about content, and then try and accomplish review to establish a foundation of apprehension of the material and real understanding. Then I like to spend the majority of the session on practicing and problem solving to boost long-term retention (as best proven by academic studies. This manifests in different forms depending on the course and subject, but usually can involve progressively difficult problems to solve, and new tests to allow the student to demonstrate what they have learned. Then finally, practice of individual extension of the content reviewed includes allowing the student to make new connections not explicitly outlined in the class.
