Hello! My name is Bari, and I am a high school math teacher with over 15 years of experience working with students in both classroom and one-on-one settings. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Education and am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have extensive experience teaching a wide range of courses, including Algebra, Geometry, and AP Statistics, which I have taught for the past 13 years. Throughout my career, I have worked with high school students of all ability levels, including those in general education and inclusion classrooms. In addition to my teaching experience, I have several years of private tutoring experience, and I have consistently tutored students virtually for the past 7 years. I have supported students with homework, test preparation, and long-term skill development, and have also tutored higher-level math, including college-level calculus and statistics.
My approach to tutoring is patient, supportive, and tailored to each individual student. I focus on helping students truly understand the material rather than just memorizing procedures. I break down complex concepts into manageable steps, adjust my teaching based on each student’s learning style, and regularly check for understanding. I also help students build confidence, improve organization, and develop problem-solving strategies so they can become more independent learners.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students and create a comfortable, encouraging environment where they feel supported and willing to ask questions. My background in education, along with my training in counseling, allows me to better support students who experience math anxiety while also challenging those who are looking to strengthen and extend their skills. My goal is to help each student make meaningful progress while building both their understanding of math and their confidence in their abilities.
