Hi everyone! My name is Gavin and I am a third-year student at Princeton University majoring in Economics and minoring in Linguistics. I have multiple years of experience tutoring math, foreign languages (Italian, German, Spanish), and SAT Prep, but I am also able to tutor any subject at the high school level or lower.
I achieved a perfect score on the SAT and have two years of experience tutoring for the SAT. I was able to achieve this score due to my fundamental understanding of the test, as I believe the test favors those who profoundly understand the strategies over anything else. I work one-on-one with students on gaining a strong understanding of how the test functions, and then I go through every possible type of question that can be asked until the student grasps each question confidently.
Additionally, I have been employed through learning centers as a tutor for elementary, middle, and high school math. I have tutored one-on-one from early elementary math all the way up to calculus. I focus my lessons on the "doing and applying" method. I really want to make sure that the student not only understands but can apply every topic that we go over.
In terms of foreign languages, I have taught myself three foreign languages: Italian, German, and Spanish. As a linguistics minor at Princeton University, I can confidently say that the best way to drastically improve proficiency in a foreign language is by immersing yourself into speaking and thinking in those languages. To achieve this, I use reinforced learning in my lessons to get to the point where I can teach in the target language by just the second lesson. I am very focused on improving the student's language skills as quickly as possible, and I am looking forward to helping people of all levels of these languages!
