Hi! I'm Jennifer, an educator dedicated to helping students develop curiosity while gaining skills and confidence. I am currently a PhD student at Princeton studying Sociology and Social Policy, with a B.A. in Sociology from Cornell University, with minors in Education, Inequality Studies, and American Studies. I have worked with students of all ages—from toddlers to college students—and I tailor my approach to meet each learner's needs and goals.

My experience includes teaching language development and developing cognitive and socioemotional skills as a daycare teaching assistant with toddlers. Additionally, I have served as an elementary classroom volunteer, supporting students in English and Math. I have taught undergraduates as a teaching assistant for 4 semesters, on topics in Sociology, Education, and Intergroup Dialogue. As an intermediate Spanish speaker, I have also tutored beginning Spanish speakers.

As someone who studies education, my teaching pedagogy is research-driven. My teaching style focuses on making learning engaging and relevant. I design lessons that spark questions and encourage dialogue to encourage students to see learning as a process.

College Counseling

College Counseling

I graduated from Cornell University in 2023 and am currently a PhD student at Princeton. My experience applying to and attending two Ivy League universities helped me understand what top universities are looking for—and how students can stand out. I have also assisted friends, family members, and mentees in the college application process. My focus for college counseling is on helping students create an application timeline and organize application materials, apply to schools that fit their goals, and write a compelling personal statement.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I have always loved to write, edit papers, and proofread. I mentor students in academic writing, personal statements, and analytical essays across various topics. In particular, I guide students in developing strong thesis statements, improving writing quality and structure, and finding their voice.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I am a PhD student who has written personal statements that have helped me receive acceptances to multiple Ivy League universities, fellowships, and grants. I have also reviewed personal statements for friends and mentees applying to medical school, law school, and master's programs. My feedback focuses on creating a compelling, polished, and detailed statement while encouraging writers to authentically share their story and interest in a given program.
Sociology

Sociology

I graduated Summa Cum Laude in Sociology with distinction in all subjects, and am currently enrolled in a sociology PhD program at Princeton University. My areas of expertise are education, stratification and inequality, theory, urban sociology, and the welfare state. I have experience with quantitative data analysis in R, qualitative interviews, content analysis, surveying, and qualitative coding in MAXQDA. In both my undergraduate and graduate studies, I've worked as a teaching assistant and mentor, helping students understand complex sociological questions, methods, and findings.
Spanish

Spanish

I fell in love with Spanish when I took my first class in high school. I took intensive Spanish classes for all 4 years in high school and 3 semesters of college-level classes. I also tutored Spanish for a high school student and frequently travel to Spanish-speaking countries.

I highly recommend Jennfer! I am a graduate student, and Jennifer has been an excellent tutor. She thoroughly explains the subject in ways that are easy to understand. I believe she can adapt to any age group. On several occasions, I booked her at the last minute to help me complete my work. She is highly responsive and accommodating to my schedule.
