I have been tutoring students from middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities. I have tailored the tutoring sessions based on the students’ learning profile and their requirements. I will prepare the tutoring session in advance according to the topics and documents provided by the student. My tutoring will include not only description, explanation, narration of the theories, laws and phenomena in an easy understandable way, but also checkpoints, guided practices, independent practices and reviews. After each class, a short class feedback, including contents discussed, pros and cons, area to improve and reminder will be sent to the student. Such a tutoring style has enabled the student really know and master the concepts clearly. The student will be able to apply the concepts quickly to Quizzes, Tests and Finals.
I usually have two types of tutoring: one is a new course explanation, and the other is an exercise class. In the new course, I will focus more on helping students better understand and master new knowledge and concepts, and on integrating them with what they have learned before; in the excise class, In the exercise class, I will pay more attention to helping students understand the meaning of the questions, clarify their problem-solving ideas, and combine the learned theories and laws with real-life problems, so as to solve practical problems.
I have one advantage that I can teach all the above-mentioned subjects in English and Chinese. This will be very helpful for the students just landed in US from China.
