I also studied abroad in Paris for a semester, taking courses in French and living with a host family.
I was a teaching assistant for Computer Science 1, a Python-based computer science course, where I led, without assistance, a discussion section of 20 students once a week. I was responsible for reinforcing the material discussed in the lecture, working through practice problems, holding at least 2 hours of office hours/week, and grading my students' written and coded homework assignments. I created outlines and step-by-step plans to help students new to computer science learn how to approach coding, and the professor liked the idea so much that he implemented in it future sections of the course.
In addition, I tutored elementary and middle school students in college through a non-profit organization providing voluntary school integration in Boston. I tutored one 5th grader in Science and organization and one 3rd grader in English once a week.
Moreover, in high school, I was a mentor at a STEM center and helped other high-school students with BC Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and AP Biology. I also was a "Study Buddy" and tutored 1 7th grader in Math and Science and 1 6th grader in French for 2 years.
