I am Senior Lecturer of Physics at Princeton University and creator of the award-winning YouTube channel Physics4Life. I use cutting-edge teaching methods that have helped hundreds of students maximize their learning, and their grades. While I have been teaching at the college level for 12 years, I also work with younger students at all levels of physics and math: Honors and AP Physics, AP Calculus, SAT/ACT/GRE/MCAT prep, college physics, linear algebra, etc. I know what level of knowledge is sought, both to get in and to succeed once in, and I can help you get there.

My students receive a truly unique tutoring experience. I work at the intersection of physics and educational psychology which means that I help students achieve a deep, expert-like understanding physics within just a few sessions.

Most tutors are perfectly adept at explaining physics concepts and answering questions, but this knowledge stays in the short-term memory of students’ brains and doesn’t pass to the long-term, permanent memory. So students may feel they understand something in the moment but struggle to apply the same concepts later on an exam.

In contrast, my methods explicitly teach students how to become more expert-like in their thinking and problem solving. So when *my* students encounter a problem that they have never seen before they do not feel lost, they know exactly what strategies to employ to find the most productive solution.
Of course, all this happens "under the hood," while my students experience a fun and stimulating conversation about physics. Students enjoy our sessions because I am "uncannily good at explaining stuff" and they leave with a deeper understanding and greater confidence. Even students who initially dread taking physics end up appreciating and even loving the subject after working with me, and some have even gone on to become tutors themselves in the very subjects they initially feared!

Please reach out if you have any questions, I look forward to guiding you on your physics/math journey!

Inspiring tutor

Katerina has tutored my daughter in AP Physics, she is excellent both in knowledge of the subject and how to teach it. My daughter has gone from an almost standing start in the subject to a interested and curious young scientist.

Patient and meticulous

Katerina is a quite meticulous and detail oriented in her teachings. She makes sure to go into key concepts step-by-step and challenges the student just enough to think on their own and fill in the blanks. She is an excellent guide to accelerate learning of advanced concepts.

Extremely knowledgable and student-centered tutor

Katerina helps my daughter with her college Physics class. We had tried a couple of tutors in physics prior to approaching Katerina. She is an exceptional tutor because not only does she have a deep understanding of the content, her instructional approach and compassionate demeanor make her stand out from the rest. She is able to identify gaps in understanding, allows her students to ask questions, and teaches them how to analyze and think through problems. She provides support by sharing videos and other materials that could help reinforce the content. Because of Katerina’s help, my daughter feels she has a better grasp of the material. Thank you for your help, Katerina!

Excellent teacher!

My high school daughter is taking Advanced Physics and was absolutely lost, it is very difficult to keep up with the fast paced class. We found a tutor for her (not Katerina) who would review her homework and answer her questions, and this was somewhat helpful in the moment, but not helpful in understanding the new material that would be presented in class the next time, and she was constantly having to play catch up. We finally found Katerina, who arrived to the first session with an actual lesson plan, and worked to teach my daughter all the concepts that were rushed through in class. So far my daughter has had two sessions with Katerina, and has already gained a MUCH better understanding of all that is presented in class. She has a big test tomorrow, so we’re eager to see how that goes.

Great Physics Tutor

Katerina helped my student to gain a better understanding of the material and provided skills for thinking about how and when to use the appropriate formula. My student felt much more confident about IB Physics after a couple of sessions. Highly recommend.

Knowledgeable, patient and kind tutor who we'd wish we'd found earlier

Here's a review from my daughter: I recently worked with Katerina to help me prepare for my AP Physics 1B class final and the Physics 1A AP exam, and I can confidently say that she is truly an amazing tutor. She helped me refine my overall problem-solving approach and fostered my conceptual understanding, in particular concepts that had given me trouble, by presenting thought experiments rooted in everyday life. I do not doubt that she can do the same for you. In addition to being extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about physics, she was also incredibly patient and kind, and took the time to answer all of my questions and made sure that I was grasping the material. She was also very flexible and made sure to accommodate my schedule. Overall, I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs help. With her help, my performance improved relatively quickly (89%/98% on optics MC/FRQ) and I feel much more confident in—and much less stressed about—my physics abilities. I only wish I’d found her sooner.

Knowledgeable, Professional and Excellent Tutor

Amazing Tutor! Katerina helped me when I was struggling with AP Physics 1 concepts and problems before my AP exams. I even didn't have time to tryout the tutors. In the first session itself, Katerina explained the random concepts and questions I asked without prior prep; only a skilled tutor can do that. Her explanations were very clear, simple and concise, and she always made sure I understood the material before moving on. Thanks to her guidance, I felt confident and well-prepared going into the exam. Additionally, she is highly professional and committed to her work. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great physics tutor.

Super helpful tutor that teaches well

Katerina has been tutoring my son physics and SAT. It has been really terrific for him. On physics, he has a much deeper understanding of physics. He is a good student and has been struggling with physics but now with Katerina's help, is back to doing very well. On SAT, she has been giving him helpful guidance on the math section with a goal to get close to 800. Fully and enthusiastically recommend Katerina to anyone looking for help.

Great tutor for AP Physics 1

Katerina is a great teacher for the AP Physics 1 test. She is very patient, and gives great advice on how to analyze a problem or an FRQ. I would definitely recommend, especially for the AP Physics 1 exam.
