My name is Eshan Iyer, and I am a student at Carnegie Mellon University pursuing a degree in Information Systems, with plans to dual major in Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science. As a member of the Class of 2030, I have consistently pursued academic excellence. I graduated high school with a 3.93/4.0 unweighted GPA and a 4.7/5.0 weighted GPA while completing nine AP courses. I earned scores of 5 on AP Calculus BC (including the AB subscore), AP Biology, AP Microeconomics, AP Statistics, and AP Literature and Composition, in addition to taking AP Computer Science A. My background in mathematics and programming, including solving USACO Bronze and Silver-level problems, has strengthened my ability to quickly learn complex concepts while maintaining precision and accuracy.
In addition to my academics, I have one year of paid experience as an in-person math tutor at Mathnasium and over 80 hours of volunteer SAT Math tutoring. At Mathnasium, I spent more than 300 hours teaching subjects from basic addition through calculus (K-12 students). Working with learners of different ages and abilities taught me that every student learns differently, requiring me to adapt my teaching style to each individual. I also regularly taught two or three students simultaneously while tracking their progress and writing detailed session reports, strengthening my ability to multitask and think quickly.
As an SAT Math tutor, I taught classes of around ten students, helping them solve challenging problems and improve their performance on diagnostic tests. This experience further developed my communication and instructional skills while reinforcing my own mathematical problem-solving abilities.
Together, these experiences have strengthened my ability to rapidly understand new material, communicate complex ideas clearly, and adapt to new challenges.
