Hello, I'm Raymond! I graduated this year with a bachelor’s degree in both Cell & Developmental Biology and Psychology from Northwestern University and I plan to matriculate into medical school in fall 2026. I would love to offer my expertise in Biology and Chemistry to elementary, middle school, and high school students. As a tutor, my goal would be to foster an engaging work environment and help my students develop a growth mindset and confidence to learn, think critically, and take on difficult problems.
As a recent student myself, I understand how difficult it may be to conceptualize, learn, and retain material under time pressure, so my teaching method involves breaking big ideas into small, manageable steps with visuals and plenty of real examples as well as guided problem solving. In my first session, I take a student focused approach, starting with a brief diagnostic, then setting clear goals with my students and aligning our plan with the school syllabus, AP objectives, or any last minute exam prep. I use active recall with notecards, spaced practice, and question driven discussion to check understanding, and I build short practice sets so students can apply concepts right away.
I have some experience working with students during my time in college. I have supported learners one on one and in small groups through school led study sessions, helping classmates prepare for exams in classes I have taken already. I work comfortably with elementary through high school students, both in person and online, and I am happy to tailor lessons to specific science courses, honors tracks, and AP tracks. I can also help with lab reports, data interpretation, study planning before tests, and building productive weekly routines. Upon request, I provide brief session summaries and next steps so families can track progress.
I would love to connect for a short introductory chat about goals, schedules, and how we can make the next few weeks of learning productive and encouraging.
