I am currently pursuing an MS in Data Science, where my coursework focuses on statistics, probability, data analysis, and machine learning concepts. I previously earned a BS in Film and Moving Image and worked in the film and television industry before returning to school to pursue a more quantitative and analytical career path. This background strengthened my communication skills and ability to explain complex ideas clearly, which I now apply to tutoring technical subjects.

Over the past 3 years, I have regularly provided one-on-one academic support to my younger sister, who is currently a high school freshman. In this setting, I have helped her work through math homework, prepare for exams, and build confidence with problem-solving. These sessions took place in a one-on-one environment and required me to adapt explanations to her learning style, identify gaps in understanding, and reinforce foundational concepts. This experience gave me practical exposure to teaching high school–level material in a patient, supportive manner.

My tutoring approach emphasizes conceptual understanding, structured problem-solving, and confidence-building. Before a lesson, I like to engage in a brief dialogue with the student where we clarify our goals and discuss what a high quality tutoring session would be like for us. Typically, this involves identifying where a student feels stuck, reviewing the underlying concepts, working through guided examples together, and then having the student attempt similar problems independently with support as needed. I aim to create a calm, respectful learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing long-term skills in statistics, probability, and data analysis. I am responsive to messages and committed to helping students make steady, sustainable progress.
