I received my undergraduate degree in behavioral science from Wilmington University in Wilmington, DE and went on to earn a master's degree in special education. Upon Graduation, I work as a special education teacher in Pennsville, NJ where I have been for 20 years. In addition, I went back to school and received a second master's degree in school leadership in 2015. As a teacher in a small suburban school district, I have taught mostly 6-8 grade, but I have taught and tutored in every grade level from pre-K to junior college, mostly in reading and language arts.
As far as teaching, my approach is to try to keep things as low risk as possible. When asking people to take chances and think about things differently than they have before, the goal would be to keep things low risk so the person as a chance to think about the concept, analyze thoughts, and be reflective after the work. By giving students, a low-risk environment, the tutor can help the student stretch the time he or she is willing to be frustrated and build the endurance of learning.
