I'm Nick! Having had remarkable experiences traveling to Greece and off the beaten path in East Africa with my family in high/secondary school, and having had a passion for learning about the world and connections between cultures all my life, I studied International Affairs/Diplomacy at the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University. I then took this passion and my studies into different fields, including time living in Great Britain and the Dominican Republic, ultimately deciding to gain a TEFL certification to teach English and guide students on the adventure of language. I chose to teach to inspire others on their language journey, work which I find both fulfilling and meaningful, as language is one of the most beautiful gifts we have as human beings. To be a part of another person's journey in English is a wonderful experience.
My philosophy is that learning a language should feel like an adventure, not work or study. I therefore teach intermediate and advanced students 1-on-1 through engaging, dynamic conversations where I push your English abilities in different directions on a wide range of subjects, steadily improving your proficiency and flexibility, and all the while teaching you new vocabulary, idioms, and slang. You will first gain confidence speaking with me, then I'll inspire you to take your English outside of our lessons to explore and engage with the world.
Over the past two-and-a-half years, I have taught over 300 students of all different ages and backgrounds, from Japanese surgeons and Chinese actresses, to truck drivers and farmers. I have helped university students to prepare for IELTS and other English exams, adults of varying ages to prepare for job interviews and immigration, and even other English teachers to improve their teaching ability, all the while giving them a greater joy in seizing experiences in the world.
