About Lori

With more than 20+ years as an English teacher and adjunct college professor, I have have helped 1000's of students to successfully apply to and gain admittance to college. I also tutor students who need assistance in preparing for the reading and writing portions of standardized exams-- from the SAT and ACT on the high school level to the GRE and PRAXIS on the college level.

In 2014, I had the honor of being selected as "Teacher of the Year" in the high school where I teach. I have also worked as an adjunct professor at Long Island University and at Brookdale Community College. My educational background includes an MA in English/Teaching of Writing and a BA in Journalism/Sociology. In addition, I am a member of the New Jersey Writing Alliance-- an organization devoted to helping students to successfully make the transition from high school to college.

I provide essay writing, editing and proofreading assistance to students who want to set themselves apart from others-- whether they are preparing for college entrance exams, working on college applications, researching term papers or working on other written projects.

Services are provided in-person and online. Fees are flexible depending on services provided.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I provide college counseling as part of my tutoring business and also as part of my full-time position as a high school English teacher. As an educator for 20+ years, I have helped hundreds of students to write college application essays, to research careers, and to select colleges that will help them to reach their life goals.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a licensed elementary and secondary school teacher with more than 20 years of teaching experience. I have worked with students of all ages, from elementary to college. I hold a Master's Degree in English, with a specialization in the Teaching of Writing.

Praxis

I have been a public school teacher for approximately 20 years, which means that I not only know the material on the PRAXIS but have applied my skills and knowledge in the education profession. I also mentor new teachers in my school and have supervised a student teacher. In addition, I have taught professional development workshops to teachers. Helping up-and-coming educators is a passion of mine. I want to use my knowledge and experience to help education majors pass their PRAXIS.

Regents

Although I currently teach in New Jersey, I am originally from New York. There, I taught at a public high school that administered the English Regents exams. My role was to proctor the exams and also to grade them.

Study Skills

I am a licensed teacher with more than 20 years of experience. I hold a Master's Degree in English, with a specialization in the Teaching of Writing. I have experience teaching students of all ages-- from elementary school to college. In my classes, I teach study skills to students of all abilities-- special needs, general education and honors.

Writing

I hold an MA in English/Teaching of Writing. I also hold a BA in Journalism and have worked as a professional writer. As an English teacher for 20+ years, I have lots of experience teaching writing.
