Hi, I'm Shaili! I am a recent graduate from UCLA, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience. My interest in education began much earlier through my experience at a medical magnet high school, where I focused on healthcare and STEM coursework. I have taken extensive writing-intensive courses, including AP Language and AP Literature, as well as multiple college-level writing and English courses at UCLA. In mathematics, I completed coursework through calculus and developed a strong understanding of foundational concepts, which I believe are essential for mastering more advanced material. These experiences have strengthened my ability to analyze texts, construct arguments, and effectively communicate complex ideas. I now use these skills to help students learn material through tutoring.
I have several years of tutoring experience working with students in grades K–12 across subjects including English, math, biology, and chemistry. At UCLA, I was actively involved in Bruins for Accessible Education, where I provided both one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction. In this role, I worked with students of varying learning styles and academic needs, adapting my teaching approach to ensure clarity and engagement. My experience also includes informal peer tutoring and ongoing support for my younger sister, who is currently in high school. This has further strengthened my ability to explain concepts in relatable and accessible ways. I am particularly comfortable working with K-12 students, helping them build strong academic habits and confidence in their abilities.
My tutoring style is all about making difficult topics feel more manageable. I like to break things down step by step, focus on the basics, and adjust how I teach depending on what works best for each student. Whether we’re working on writing, math, or studying for a test, I focus on being patient, clear, and giving students plenty of opportunities to practice and really understand the material.
