I studied Mechanical Engineering at The College of New Jersey (highly ranked school, see US News or Forbes rankings) and conquered most math subjects along the way. I studied Mechanical Engineering at The College of New Jersey (highly ranked school, see US News or Forbes rankings) and conquered most math subjects along the way. Teaching is a love of mine, and I have tutored on and off since I was in high school. My greatest teaching strength is my ability to simplify concepts so that they are easier to learn and understand. My confidence in my abilities was always high, and spending three years as a Math teacher confirmed this for me as my students made enormous learning gains. Since then, I have transitioned into running my own local tutoring business where I offer help in all Math Subjects as well as SAT/ACT prep, and my students' learning gains are enormous.

Also, I have unique coaching experience in an unconventional field. I am an extremely high level poker player and have coached dozens and dozens of students along the way, teaching them how to make a better living for themselves. Not only do I teach strategy and math, but I ascertain underlying factors in performance such as how they deal with pressure. These outside factors can prove to be vitally important to success in testing, and any situation someone feels pressure or resistance in.

In summation, I am available to tutor all Math subjects (and some science) middle school through college as well as SAT/ACT prep and Poker.

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Elementary math is comprised of the basic building blocks of mathematics, which I am extremely strong in. Typically students struggling with this subject simply need further explanation and more repetition. My abilities to articulate my thoughts precisely, explain things clearly, and relate to my student's knowledge base makes me a strong tutor for elementary math.

The main concepts that students typically need coaching in are constructing their positional ranges, assigning ranges to opponents to understand how often to call/fold/raise, and using appropriate bet sizes. Whether you're a recreational player or aspiring pro, I will help you fill knowledge gaps, create a rock solid foundation, and put you in a position to succeed.

Highly knowledgeable, excellent poker teacher who gets measurable results

I've taken 13 lessons from Mike so far and have already learned a ton. He is extremely knowledgeable about a variety of games, both cash and torunament, and is a clear and patient teacher. Bottom line: My play has improved dramatically, and I'm winning much more often in my weekly game. The lessons basically pay for themselves.

Excellent communicator and teacher

With Mike I have been able to get a real grasp on my calculus throughout college and my confidence has jumped. He takes his time to go over material and better understand it before the lesson while answering every question with patience.

Experienced poker player with a fresh view on the game

My first lesson with Mike showed me he has an old-school game with a new generation touch. I played poker at an early age and then took 10 years away from the game, so I was lacking a lot of the new school information. I feel Mike is going to help me blend the best of both worlds.
