My name is Emilia, and I’m currently a student at the University of Vermont studying Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Public Health Policy Throughout school, English and writing have always been subjects I genuinely enjoyed and excelled in. Hi! My name is Emilia, and I’m currently a student at the University of Vermont studying Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Public Health Policy Throughout school, English and writing have always been subjects I genuinely enjoyed and excelled in. These subjects are simply my bread and butter, I enjoy learning about them whilst also being able to teach others my handful of skills.
This love for the subject led me to take advanced English courses throughout high school, including AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition. Also helping me score a 750 on the SAT Reading and Writing section.
For the past two years, I’ve worked as a camp counselor at the YMCA, where I’ve worked with kids of all ages, mostly students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Working with children every day taught me how important patience, encouragement, and flexibility are when helping students learn. I know that everyone learns differently, and sometimes all it takes is someone explaining something in a different way.
My goal as a tutor is to make learning feel less overwhelming and more approachable. Whether we’re working on reading comprehension, essay writing, grammar, or building confidence in English class, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes along the way.
I’m most comfortable tutoring students in reading, writing, English composition, grammar, essay writing, and study skills for elementary through high school students. Although I am also open to guiding students through higher education within essay and research writing. I’m excited to help students build confidence, improve their skills, and hopefully make English feel a little less stressful.
