I am a certified high school English teacher with experience working with students in grades 9–10 in a general education and pull-out resource (special education) setting. My teaching focuses on supporting students with a range of learning needs, including reading comprehension difficulties, writing challenges, attention needs, and anxiety. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English and Secondary Education, as well as a Master’s degree in Special Education. I am certified to teach English in grades 5–8 and hold a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TSD) certification.

I have several years of classroom teaching experience, as well as experience working with students in small group and one-on-one settings. In my current role, I provide highly individualized instruction by modifying grade-level texts, pre-teaching vocabulary, and using structured, step-by-step approaches to help students access challenging material. I regularly design and implement lessons that include chunked reading, guided questions, graphic organizers, and scaffolded writing supports.

My approach to tutoring is supportive, structured, and student-centered. I focus on building both skills and confidence by breaking tasks into manageable steps, modeling strategies (such as using context clues and identifying key ideas), and gradually increasing independence. I have extensive experience working with struggling readers and writers and tailoring instruction to meet each student’s specific needs.
