Remember how difficult it was the first time your physics teacher said you had to break forces down into components in order to use Newton's Second Law? Or when they asked you to find the maxima and minima of a complicated function? I sure do - I struggled with those things as well. But I found that with good teachers and some hard work, I was able to master difficult concepts. Through my struggle, I learned how to effectively instruct students in physics and math.

I have tutored throughout high school, college and graduate school, and have experience tutoring all levels of students - from elementary school students to upper level undergraduate students. I also taught physics at the college level and was nominated for an outstanding teacher award.

I have my Ph.D. in physics and through earning my degree I have obtained a deep understanding of the field, as well as plenty of experience teaching it. My enthusiasm for teaching physics and math is apparent in my tutoring sessions. This makes students excited to learn and therefore more receptive to the concepts.

Additionally, I know the ins and outs of the math sections on the new SAT and ACT, as well as the SAT Math Level 1 and Level 2 subject tests. AP physics and calculus? Got you covered there as well!

Feel free to contact me and ask any questions you may have, whether they are about my qualifications, my teaching philosophy or anything else that comes to mind!

I focus not only on content review, but also on the importance of timing and test-taking strategies specific to the ACT.
ACT Science

ACT Science

I work at a private tutoring center, where one of my specialties is ACT science. In addition to have a Ph.D. in the sciences, I know the ACT science and all its sub-topics front to back, from the scientific method and comparing viewpoints to reading and interpreting science graphs and charts. I focus not only on content review, but also on the importance of timing and test-taking strategies specific to the ACT science section.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I work at a private tutoring center, where one of my specialties is algebra 1. I know the algebra 1 curriculum front to back, from one- and two- step equations and systems of linear equations to quadratic functions and linear modeling. I also specialize in some of the more advanced topics in some algebra 1 courses, such as linear programming and trigonometry.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I work at a private tutoring center, where one of my specialties is algebra 2. I know the algebra 2 curriculum front to back, from quadratics and rational functions to matrices, trigonometry, and discrete math. I also specialize in the honors or advanced level algebra 2, during which probability and statistics might be covered.
Calculus

Calculus

I work at a private tutoring center, where one of my specialties is calculus, including the AB and BC calculus courses. I know the calculus curriculum front to back, from rules of differentiation to techniques of integration to infinite series. I can also do multivariable calculus for students on a more advanced math track.
Geometry

Geometry

I work at a private tutoring center, where one of my specialties is geometry. I know the geometry curriculum front to back, from lines and triangles to circles and quadrilaterals. I also specialize in what some consider to be the hardest part of geometry - logic, inductive/deductive reasoning and two-column proofs.
MCAT

MCAT

I am highly qualified to tutor MCAT physics. I have a PhD in physics and have tutored numerous students in MCAT physics. MCAT physics doesn't require memorizing a lot of physics formulae. However, it does require good problem solving and analytical skills, which are the focus of my MCAT physics tutoring.
Physics

Physics

I earned my PhD in physics in 2016, during which I taught eight semesters of college physics (algebra and calculus based), supervising over 300 students in that time. I developed problems and presented problem solving strategies to help students learn the material. I have expertise in classical mechanics, electricity and magnetism, and waves and optics. My instruction earned me a nomination for an outstanding teacher award.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I work at a private tutoring center, where one of my specialties is pre-calculus. The precalculus curriculum can vary greatly from school to school, but I am familiar with all the topics taught in pre-calculus courses, from polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions to trigonometry, probability and statistics. I also specialize in some of the more advanced topics, such as parametric equations, vectors and infinite series.
Salsa Dancing

Salsa Dancing

I participated as an active member of Florida State University's Azucar Dance Company for 5.5 years. During four of those years, I was the group's lead instructor, helping to develop our curriculum, as well as train people who wanted to be part of our team. I was able to teach beginners, intermediate, and advanced. I also taught out of town during workshops.

OUTSTANDING!!!

My daughter was looking for an advanced math class because her school wasn’t providing a challenging environment for her. Jeff was incredible. He’s engaging, positive and fun. He quickly assessed her level and knew just how to keep her interest. She has enjoyed all of her lessons with him to date and can’t wait for more. Don’t hesitate to book with Jeff - you will not be disappointed.

Very Knowledgeable and explains concepts in easy to digest ways.

Jeff helped me accomplish a A in Physics 2. Physics is not my strength at all, but Jeff before every test he helped the concepts click. I could not have made it through my second semester of physics without Jeff!!

super responsive and flexible, really great teacher

Jeff always provides recap of what was covered, offered screen shots from the sessions, was available on short notice, and my son couldn't say enough about how well he explains really complex concepts in physics.

Excellent College Level Physics Tutor: Patient and Knowledgable

I had the pleasure of working with Jeff as my physics 2 tutor all semester, and I can confidently say that he is one of the best tutors I've had. Jeff was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and patient throughout our sessions, which made the learning process so much easier and enjoyable. His expertise in physics and his passion for the subject were evident from the get-go, as he was able to explain even the most complex concepts in a way that was easy to understand. What impressed me the most about Jeff was his patience. Whenever I had trouble grasping a concept or solving a problem, he would take the time to explain it to me in different ways until it made sense. He never made me feel embarrassed or silly for not understanding something, which was a huge relief and made me more comfortable asking questions. Overall, I would highly recommend Jeff as a physics tutor to anyone looking for help in this subject. He was super easy to schedule sessions with and was understanding of my class and work schedule. His knowledge and patience make him an excellent tutor who truly cares about his students' success.

Incredible Tutor - Highly Recommend Booking

I just started my MBA and I don't have a background in statistics. I have been really struggling with keeping up in class and understanding the homework. I booked with Jeff and after an hour, I was fully able to grasp the assignment. He explains the work in such a digestible, intuitive way. Jeff is patient, detail oriented, and provides real world examples that help in ensuring that the material is fully understood. I left feeling very confident and even received 100% on my assignment. I highly recommend booking with Jeff.

Great meeting!

Jeff asked very valuable questions and quicky helped my son to realize weak spots that require more time to practice. I hope next lessons will help to get my son better results with his math tests. Thank you Jeff for a turning point !

Great physics tutor

Efficient and thorough tutor who jumps in on any subject matter. Also teaches math. Busy schedule but tries hard to fit you in to schedule. Can work on topics following course content or without a text book
