Hello!

I'm Suhayb and I'm looking forward to working with you! In 2020, I received a master's degree in English with a 3.9 GPA. My time in grad school allowed me opportunities to teach a class or two, present at university-hosted conferences, and work on research that is now being considered for academic publication. I found that the most rewarding moments of learning took place in dialogue. Hopefully, we're going to get a lot out of our sessions by talking through the points of difficulty, whether we're looking at a piece of literature or working on your writing.

Most of my experience is with undergraduate students: I've been employed as a tutor for over a year at a university affiliated program that specializes in supporting students with learning challenges during which time I earned my CRLA tutoring certification. My sessions were most often one-on-one, both virtually and in-person, with the occasional group session. Although I most commonly provided writing and reading comprehension assistance, my background has allowed me to tutor a somewhat diverse body of topics ranging from Japanese to graduate application support.

I've also spent a brief period teaching high school English literature and AP Language. For high school, my approach is not altogether different than for undergraduate students excepting that our work together is always with an eye toward preparing the student for what they will encounter in college in terms of performance, content, and pedagogy.
