I am a PhD candidate in biological anthropology studying parasite transmission in capuchin monkeys! I have a strong background in teaching, having served as an adjunct instructor for over 5 years teaching introductory anthropology courses at Queens College, Brooklyn College, and the University of Calgary (Alberta, Canada). Prior to beginning my graduate education, I worked at the American Museum of Natural History as a teaching assistant and in the education department at the Wildlife Conservation Society (based out of the Bronx Zoo). I currently mentor 2 undergraduate students who are helping me with my dissertation lab work and guide them in grant applications, scientific writing, research project development and presentations/public speaking.
My academic background is in biology, anthropology, epidemiology and genetics and I've worked with a variety of programs such as R, ArcGIS, QGIS, ImageJ, Adobe Photoshop, and more. I can also help my students with writing, specifically scientific writing (grant/college/program applications, lab reports, manuscripts, research papers, etc.), presentations, and public speaking - all of which I have years of experience with.
I am currently in the last year of my PhD and will be traveling between New York and Calgary, Canada often to complete my lab work and dissertation writing. My ideal situation would be to tutor online, but I also understand that some of the best learning happens in-person, so I am willing to work with my students and their families to figure out a situation that works well for both of us. My schedule is pretty flexible and I have a car, so I can be accommodating.

Approved Subjects

Anthropology

Anthropology

I am currently completing my PhD in Anthropology (biological anthropology, specifically), and have been teaching college level anthropology classes at various universities in NYC and Canada for 6+ years. As someone actively working in the field, I am up to date with the latest research, findings, and debates in the anthropology community and have access to other professional anthropologists as well. Anything that I don't know off the top of my head, I can find out for you!
Epidemiology

Epidemiology

I am a parasitologist with a background in parasite population genetics and transmission. I have taken a course in epidemiology at Columbia University and am practicing those skills today. I stay on top of the parasitology/epidemiology literature and am familiar with the general principles and theories in the field.
