I am the author of four books that include, Axe and the African Roots of Brazilian Popular Music (University Press of Mississippi), Quincy Jones His Life in Music (University Press of Mississippi) Quincy Jones: A Research and Information Guide (Routledge Press), and Miles Davis: A Research and Information Guide (Routledge Press). In addition to my book I have published several encyclopedia articles an peer reviewed journal articles.
On the doctoral level one of my major qualifying examinations was in Music History. Also, my Masters Degree at Columbia University was in Music History and Literature
