1. Remember in the Little Mermaid when Ursula took Ariel’s voice in exchange for her to walk on land? That’s the relationship you’re agreeing to when you use AI to write for you. You think it’s giving you that freedom, but it’s really taking yours and millions of users’ ideas and thoughts to teach itself how to write. And in return, your unique, communicative voice weakens. Don’t become one of Ursula’s creatures kept in a jar on her shelf; learn to write and communicate for yourself, and for humanity.
2. No better way to learn the humanities than from another human (partial pun intended). Maybe you’re not even into literature or history and you just want to be a scientist—fair! You can look up the spark notes for that boring book you were assigned, get by, and move on.
BUT: if you don’t learn the skill of appreciating and thinking critically about the arts, you will be an incredibly dull and beta person.
