Hi! Im Kevin, a current undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon University. I am currently studying to become a Civil Engineer, and plan to further study for a Masters specification Structural Engineering. Throughout my educational journey thus far, I have focused on learning and gaining math based skills. As a current undergrad student, I understand the struggles and different perspectives of thinking within the sector of math. By working with others and seeing their point of views, I have found myself identifying my peers way of thinking and learning. These skills have been useful throughout both high school and college since most studying is done as group efforts.
My tutoring experience thus far has been primarily throughout my high school journey. When I attended high school, I was a part of NHS which focused on tutoring students within my high school regardless of the year. Therefore, I learned to adjust to people I hadn't previously met, and their learning skills. Although I specifically worked in the math tutoring sector, the level of math was unknown prior to meeting the student. Therefore, with students coming from within my same grade level, and some of middle school, it was always changing and required me to have a wide range of knowledge across all math levels. Along with these tutoring sessions, I have also worked with younger family members as a teen, and hosted a SAT prep program at the high school level. Hosting this program prepared me to have materials ready and teach a group of 10-15 students at a time. I worked with a professor at my school and by analyzing their flow, I was able to catch on to how to help students with math problems. All these experiences have given me insight into adjusting and working with a wide array of students for their academic needs.
As a current student, I am aware of the value tutors or academic assistants provide to students at all levels of education. I hope to provide this assistance to encourage learning in students and prepare them for future education
