I’m Nina! I graduated from the Union County Acaemy of Allied Health Sciences, took a gap year where I worked as an SAT tutor and volunteer Emergency Medical Technician, and I’ve now completed my first year at the University of Chicago, where I’m earning joint BS/MS degrees in biochemistry. Throughout my education I’ve come to understand that an educator who meets a student where they are is the difference between gratifying success and stagnant frustration.
I have three years of experience in private, 1-on-1 tutoring settings for Middle and High Schoolers. I have worked on SAT verbal and math, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus AB and BC, and college essay proofreading and revision. My tutoring philosophy involves evaluating where a pupil is and then trying as many strategies as possible to empower the student. Eventually, a pupil should not only understand the material, but learn how to learn in a way that meets their needs.
Previously, I’ve taught students as young as 12 and as old as 17. While some of my clients have been high-achieving from the beginning, many of my clients are students who were struggling without individualized attention. These latter clients experienced tangible improvements to their understanding and satisfaction with their education under my tutelage.
I want to be as big a help as I can to the students and parents I work with. Please reach out with any suggestions. I am easy to reach, and I eagerly await your message with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
