Career Development

I am a member of the Information Technology Academic Advisory Commission 2001 -present (Chairperson 2007-2008) for Mercer County Community College in New Jersey, where I advise in the type of courses, fields and instruction that is necessary to develop students in the area of Information Technology. I have also been certified as a Staff Developer / Trainer Supervisor by the US Air Force, Peterson AFB, Space Command, Colorado Springs, CO. Furthermore, I also have 29+ years of professional military, government, commercial and industry experience in diverse areas, wherein I have gladly and successfully served as professional mentor to others throughout the years. For example: I mentored a military sniper returning from the gulf, only to find there were no jobs waiting upon returning. I reviewed the case and explored options arriving to the recommendation that a career in criminology be pursued and pursuing this career, logistics could be learned through the Civil Air Patrol so that a job that could put them through school could be pursued, which they did. I mentored another military veteran who was certified in the area of calibrations. Examined the similarities in the Military Operational Specialty (MOS) and comparable fields in the civilian world and suggested they look into Electronic Equipment Sales, which they did; as well as attending several first responder meetings, which they are now doing, in order to sign-up. In doing so, free specialty training is available in a compatible and marketable area of their interest: Emergency Electronic Communications Operations and Maintenance. In another of many occasions, a young person aspiring to be a Radio Disk Jockey approached me for advice to whom I pointed to several college and mom and pop radio stations where this person could serve as an entry-level apprentice while gaining experience and completing courses in the area of broadcasting. I also hold several certifications in the area of radio communications and as a former Radio DJ was able to provide

I use Excel on a daily basis as an engineer. The range of applications is wide. It can be for many uses from, for example, record-keeping to automated calculations. It is also a handy tool for chart-making, as in pie charts and bar charts, etc.

I routinely use PowerPoint, as well as other MS-Office programs on the job. I have also taught PowerPoint and other MS-Office basics for computer course in Mercer County Community College, where I was an Information Technology Instructor and am currently a member of the Information Technology Academic Advisory Commission where I was chairperson from 2007 to 2008.

* Work with Linux on a daily basis * Instruct clients and co-workers how to instal and configure Linux for the first time * My specialty is in installing Linux on a bootable memory stick * Strong advocate of Linux * Former Information Technology Officer for the Civil Air Patrol / US Air Force Auxiliary, Chief Technology Officer for Mercerville Medical Associates Diagnostics, and corporate Internet Manager for both Dow Jones and Univisión where I used Linux daily to perform my duties * Linux is also joyfully in many other aspects of my career, including micro-computing devices the size of a wall-socket adapter, which I used to demonstrate in my R&D Lab how to have a computer that size using Linux and only consuming 5 Watts for many applications

Microsoft Outlook

I've been using MS Outlook & Calendar for my job as an Engineering Manager for more than 15 years and am familiar with most of its features, including some plugins, such as the one from GoToMeeting. I would be happy to share my knowledge with others wanting to become acquainted with it or seeking to learn more about it. I have helped new employees learn how to use it and my career has included serving as the Global (world-wide) Corporate Internet Manager for these two companies: Dow Jones (the financial services company that owns the Wall Street Journal), and Univisión (the TV Network), both of which used MS Outlook as the standard supported corporate email client.

New to yoga? I can get you started to an intermediate level in a non overwhelming way to boost your confidence and learn some theory along the way too. Great and fun way for a Beginner getting their feet wet, learn the foundations of most classes, the proper alignment and postures and/or intermediate to simply flow to get into and stay in bodily / mental and/or spiritual shape. Currently instructing at the New Egypt Yoga Collective. Former Substitute Yoga Instructor for the Zehyr Yoga studio in New Egypt, NJ prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
