Hello! My name is Emily, and I am a dedicated educator and passionate student of history. I graduated magna cum laude from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor's degree in History and Secondary Education, earned both a Graduate Certificate in American Literature and Culture and a Master's degree (ALM) in History from Harvard University Extension School, and am currently pursuing a PhD in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Gratz College.
Since 2018, I have worked full-time as a New Jersey state-certified Social Studies teacher across diverse districts. I have taught grades 6-12 in subjects spanning Ancient, Medieval, World, and United States History. Furthermore, I have successfully worked with students at all academic levels (College Prep, Honors, and AP), students with disabilities, and English Language Learners. Having logged thousands of hours in both virtual and in-person environments, I excel at translating complex historical narratives into manageable, high-impact lessons.
My teaching philosophy is centered on individualized instruction. I scaffold lessons to meet students exactly where they are, utilizing a variety of differentiated learning strategies such as interactive activities, guided practice, and deep discussions. My goal is to transform history into a meaningful experience that strengthens critical thinking skills, improves writing, develops citizenship and global awareness skills, and builds confidence.
Beyond history tutoring, I offer expert writing and editing services. As a published novelist and academic researcher, I can help students brainstorm, research, and refine any written wor-from creative stories and high school research papers to college essays and graduate admissions materials.
