Hello, my name is Karen. My educational background consists of a High School Diploma from Abington High School, Bachelor's Degree in Public Health and Bachelor's Degree in Dance from Slippery Rock University. Lastly, I have also received a Master of Science degree in Public Health from Slippery Rock University. I am certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED and currently working on Health Coach Certification.

I do not have formal previous tutoring experience; but I used to work at a daycare center in 2013 with young children, am a mom and actively teaching my infant baby at home the alphabet, numbers, and speech. I also have been teaching dance for 15+ years. I have taught all styles of dance such as jazz, hip hop, ballet, acrobatics, modern/lyrical, and tap dance to children between the ages of 2-18. My preference has always been working with elementary school age. I also have prior, recent experience as a prevention program facilitator between 2019-2023. In this role, my job responsibility was to go to elementary, middle, and high schools in-person and/or meet with them via Zoom. I was responsible for facilitating small and large groups on topics such as health, drugs, alcohol, stress, coping skills, how to reach goals, building healthy friendships, how to say no, how to handle finances, work as a team, etc. I greatly enjoyed facilitating small and large groups with students via Zoom and in-person and believe I shine most working with them. I like to utilize critical thinking in my teaching style, imagery, and repetition. I have taught in one-on-one and classroom setting environments in-person and via Zoom.
