I studied physics and electrical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, one of the top science and engineering schools in the country, one of those schools that has a wall of notable alum going back nearly two centuries. Upon graduating, I became a high school physics teacher, working with some of my own high school teachers. While teaching, I started my own tutoring company in South Florida to supplement my income. I taught students from middle school to college level in all levels of math and science as well as history and SAT prep, helping students improve their grades by one and two letters and improve their SAT scores by as much as 300 points. It was there that I learned of the many ways in which students learn, stumble, and overcome their educational challenges.

When I tutor I focus on what is the missing part of the students learning gap. I work hard to have your child not just master the coursework in front of them, but to also build the skills that will enable them to succeed in future and current classes. After having been tutored by me, your child will become more confident in their skills and subject matter. Their newly gained confidence will be a characteristic that will propel your child to future academic success.

Throughout my time on both sides of the teacher's desk, I learned that any student can learn. Sometimes the student is missing the tools with which to do so. Sometimes his or her foundations are incomplete. Sometimes he or she just gets stuck on that one problem or concept in an area in which he or she are otherwise brilliant. One of the keys to teaching as well as learning is to determine where the student is relative to what they are trying to learn and determine the right approach.

Every mind is a light bulb. Sometimes all you need is to find the right switch.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I've been teaching math for over 20 years. I've tutored middle school, high school, and college level algebra. My students have been able to understand the concepts of algebra and acquire the skills they need to do well in the course.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I've been teaching math for more than 20 years. I've tutored middle school, high school, and college level algebra. My students have been able to understand the concepts of geometry and acquire the skills they need to do well in the course.
Calculus

Calculus

I've been helping students learn calculus every since I took it myself in high school where I received A's in the course and 5's on the AP exams. Since then, I've taken and tutored students in differential equations, multi-variable calculus, and beyond. I hold Bachelor's degrees in applied physics and electrical engineering. I also hold a Master's degree in optics and photonics, for which I helped my classmates and underclassmen learn their course work and pass their qualifying exams.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I've been teaching chemistry for more than 20 years. I've taught chemistry at the middle school level and tutored high school and college level chemistry. My students have been able to understand the concepts of chemistry and acquire the skills they need to do well in the course.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I first took differential equations as an undergraduate student at RPI. Linked differential equations are a major part of Optics and were employed frequently in the study of laser physics. I became a high school physics teacher, working with some of my own high school teachers.
Geometry

Geometry

I've been teaching math for more than 20 years. I've taught geometry at the middle school level and tutored high school and college level geometry. My students have been able to understand the concepts of geometry and acquire the skills they need to do well in the course.
MATLAB

MATLAB

I spent 4 years of grad school using MATLAB to analyze data and fit unique curves to data sets. This occurred while studying for my Master's degree in Optics with a focus on ultrafast lasers. While teaching, I started my own tutoring company in South Florida to supplement my income.
Physics

Physics

I started teaching physics when I helped the underclassmen in my high school clubs then again in college while earning my physics degree. I tutored students K-12 and college students after school while working as a high school physics teacher. I also taught a graduate level course while working on my Master's degree.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I've been teaching math for more than 20 years. I've tutored high school and college level trigonometry. My students have been able to understand the concepts of geometry and acquire the skills they need to do well in the course.
